Gateway to the Rubicon
The legendary Rubicon Trail has challenged four-wheel-drive enthusiasts for generations, earning a reputation as one of the most iconic off-road routes in the world. Georgetown has long served as a gateway to that adventure, making it an ideal place to gather, prepare and spend the night before heading for the trail. As you leave Georgetown behind, so too go many of the conveniences of civilization, making town your last easy stop for fuel, groceries, ice and supplies before the journey begins. Spend the evening enjoying Georgetown's casual restaurants, historic saloons and small-town atmosphere, then settle in at the historic American River Inn for a comfortable bed and hot shower before the dusty miles ahead. In the morning, early departures are easy: grab coffee along with yogurt, fruit and a granola bar before heading out, or enjoy our regular breakfast service when your schedule allows. Whether you're joining an organized event, meeting up with your club, or returning to tackle the Rubicon with a few friends, the American River Inn, with spacious off-street parking and a variety of rooms to choose from, makes a comfortable and convenient base camp for your Rubicon adventure.
Not sure what to expect? Check out the adventures of Brad Korwitz and team, guests of the American River Inn for their 2026 Rubicon Run, on TrailRecon.
The last stop for everything you need...
Georgetown is the last little bit of civilization before making the journey up Wentworth Springs to Loon lake, where you'll find the trailhead for the Rubicon Trail.
